Carrie Bare: Remember God, the Hope of the World

“Love is going to win and evil is not. We just have to hang on to that.” — Carrie Bare

Listen in on our conversation with spiritual director Carrie Bare where we discuss spiritual truths that can nourish us during these tumultuous times.

As our pandemic practices grow thin and as the election coverage rises to a fever pitch, we at Women in the Academy and Professions thought that our listeners might benefit from some empathetic, spiritual encouragement. We asked our friend Carrie Bare to share some wisdom with us, and you.

Like many of you, I’ve been wrestling with God over the past several months, often finding myself in some stage of a denial-grief-anger-resolve cycle. Enter Carrie Bare, spiritual director and long-serving staff with Graduate and Faculty Ministries. If anyone gets the stress of academic and professional life, it’s Carrie. Not only does she understand our plight, she is gifted at offering sound, practical suggestions to help us get through dark places. I was prepared to arm-wrestle my colleagues for the privilege of conducting this interview, and I’m so glad I got the gig — plus the promise of two more conversations in the coming weeks! The Holy Spirit will help us get through this season, and we think Carrie Bare will help, too.
